Day 1: Edinburgh to Dumfries

Head out from the Bunk Campers Edinburgh depot, and drive towards Dumfries.

Upon arrival, check into your campsite and explore the town’s highlights such as the Robert Burns House. 

Dumfries offer a range of activites to suit everyone. If you’re not too spooked not why not try the Dumfries Mostly Ghostly Tour. Take a tour through Scotland’s most haunted road and learn about the vampire legends from the 12th century.

Spend the day exploring Dumfries and visit the Caerlaverock Castle.  Stroll around the Dumfries Museum, or take a leisurely walk along the River Nith. In the evening, consider attending a local theater performance or trying out a traditional Scottish pub.

For your first nights rest, stop at the Globe inn.

    Dumfries is a market town and former royal burgh in Dumfries and Galloway. The town has a brillant road system that makes getting to and through even the the remotest parts of the region easy with your motorhome. Dumfries was home to the  UK’s first Dark Sky Park at Galloway Forest Park.

Day 2: Kirkcudbright

On day 2, drive from Dumfries to Kirkcudbright, known as the Artists’ Town due to its vibrant arts scene.

Activites at Kirkcudbright never fall short. Why not explore the Kirkcudbright Dark Space Planetarium. The Dark Space Planetarium is an interactive centre featuring an immersive 360 dome.

Immerse in Kirkcudbright’s arts and history. You might want to visit MacLellan’s Castle, Broughton House, and explore the town’s picturesque harbor.

For golf Kirkcudbright’s golf course is an outstanding 18 hole parkland with panormanic views of the town and harbour.

Day 3: Galloway Forest Park

Day 3 is all about relaxation and ease.

Spend the day exploring the Galloway Forest Park. This Park is known as the UK’s first Dark Sky Park. Spend the later afternoon stargazing at night, hike to the summit of Merrick, the highest peak in southern Scotland, or enjoy a leisurely walk around the serene Clatteringshaws Loch. How peaceful does that sound?

Head back to your campsite and enjoy dinner in your motorhome.

    Whatever the season, you can have a lovely day out at the Galloway Forest Park. Meet red deer and wild goats, take one of two beautiful Forest Drives, walk in Robert the Bruce’s footsteps, or have a picnic next to a serene lake.

Day4-5: Portpatrick

From Galloway drive to Portpatrick, a charming harbour town on the western coast of the Rhins of Galloway.

Soend the next two days exploring and enjoying Portpatrick’s coastal view. Walk along the Portpatrick Cliff Path and visit the picturesque harbor. You might also want to play a round of golf at the Portpatrick Dunskey Golf Club or go on a wildlife spotting boat trip.

Enjoy stunning views and marvel at the various glacial-influenced features of Scotland’s landscape. This park includes shorter paths for families with young children or those who desire a leisurely stroll. Although, some of the sections on the journey can prove challenging for seasoned hikers.

Day 6: Portpatrick to Ayrshire

Head towards Ayr, a historic coastal town known for its rich history, beautiful beaches, and the famous poet, Robert Burns.

Discover the diverse and stunning countryside of Ayrshire. The River Ayr Way travels through region. Ayr is critical to Scotland’ history home to numerous Covenanters, as well as Robert Burns, William Wallace, and John Loudoun Macadam.

Discover Ayr’s attractions, such as the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum, Culzean Castle, and the Ayr seafront. You could also try horseback riding on the beach or take a scenic walk along the Ayrshire Coastal Path.

You might want to pay a visit to Culzean Castle and Country Park. This Park has everything from woodlands to paths and to top it all off, a cliff-top castle of mammoth grandeur.
