After collecting your chosen Bunk Camper from the Bunk Campers London depot your journey towards the Brecon Beacons area will begin.
Head towards the cathedral city of Hereford and spend the next two days exploring everything the beautiful city has to offer. You might want to visit Hereford Cathedral and the Black and White House Museum.
Explore the quaint town of Hay on Wye, known for its many bookshops. Hay-on-Wye is often described as ‘the town of books’, and it is the National Book Town of Wales. If you love reading and discovering new books, you will fall in love with this Welsh town.
You might want to spend the afternoon with a guided canoeing trip along the River Wye. This is a popular activity in the region and canoe hire companies can cater to all levels of experience from beginner to advanced.
Spend the night at a campsite of your choice. You might want to stay at the beautiful Lakeside Caravan and Camping Park.
Enjoy two nights at this beautiful campsite, and enjoy delicious home-cooked meals in your motorhome.
It’s no surprise that Lakeside Camping Park is loved by tourists and locals. The campsite is located in the heart of Brecon Beacons National Park. With a range of activities including waterskiing, boat hire, fishing and more, this campsite might just be your favourite from the entire trip.
The River Wye is the fifth-longest river in the UK, (134 miles) through Wales and England. It is known for its scenic beauty and abundance of wildlife. The river is generally calm and slow-moving, making it a great place for families.
To embrace beautiful wildlife, head to the small village of Glasbury and explore the Warren and its surrounding bodies of water and gorgeous wildlife. To experience dreamy Welsh castles, you might want to visit Hay Castle. And if you’re visiting on a Thursday you might want to visit the Hay-on-Wye Market.
Activites & Things To Do
On day 3, make your way towards the Brecon area and get ready for two days of adventure-packed fun.
Head to Llangorse Lake, a natural lake in South Wales. Why not take a picnic with you and enjoy it while overlooking this stunning lake before heading out on a hiking trail around Llangorse Lake. The lake includes a circular walk that takes visitors around the lake’s perimeter. The trail offers stunning views of the surrounding hills and countryside, as well as the lake itself.
If you are a fan of horse riding, you can enjoy a guided horse riding trip through the surrounding countryside of Brecon.
Challenge yourself to hike Pen y Fan, the highest peak in South Wales. From the top of the mountain, you can enjoy panoramic views of the park. Pen y Fan is an achievable climb for most people with a reasonable level of fitness.
Henrhyd Falls and Sgwd Yr Eira waterfalls are located nearby. Take a scenic walk to the waterfalls and enjoy stunning views you won’t find anywhere else.
At this stage of Brecon Beacons itinerary you will reach Beacons National Park. The Park is filled with stunning hiking trails and picturesque walks. There are a variety of routes to choose from, ranging from leisurely strolls to challenging hikes. Explore the park at your ease and comfort.
Spend the next two nights at a campsite of your choice. You might want to stay at Pencelli Castle Caravan and Camping Park.
Upon arrival at Pencelli Castle Caravan and Camping Park take time to enjoy your campsite surroundings and the beautiful views.
The campsite is situated just four miles East of the historic market town of Brecon. From the campsite, it’s a short walk to reach the Brecon Beacons’ highest peaks.
The facilities include Wi-Fi, self-serve laundry, an on-site shop, heated shower toilets, disabled and family facilities, drying rooms, and more.
Brecon is a quaint market town with unique and interesting shops, museums, and cathedrals. The market town is located right at the top edge of Brecon Beacons National Park.
Llangorse Lake is a glacial lake formed thousands of years ago. Spend some time walking along the lake, and taking in all it has to offer. The Llangorse Lake and Brecon area is full of peace and with endless outdoor activities, there is also a variety of indoor activities including natural rock climbing and Beacon Park boats.
In the area, you can also enjoy a fun day out with Alpacas in the National Park, and outdoor activities at Parkwood Outdoors. For all your horse riding needs why not head to Ellesmere Riding Centre.
Outside the village of Llangrose, you might want to visit the small market town of Talgarth. Just outside of the town square, you will find Bronllys Castle, where you can take a look into the town’s past.
You can also take a short drive to Talybont-on-Usk situated alongside the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal.
Activites & Things To Do
On the way to the Black Mountains area, make a stop in the small local town of Crickhowell. This town lies on the river Usk, a beautiful and scenic place to explore on your motorhome holiday.
Crickhowell is the perfect base for a day of activites and fun. Start your adventure off by visiting Crickhowell Castle. Close to the castle grounds you will find a car park and a play park which is perfect if you are travelling with kids.
In Crickowell you can drive over the Crickhowell bridge and enjoy beautiful views of Crickhowell. The bridge is claimed to be the longest stone bridge in Wales.
You might want to visit the beauty of Craig Y Cilau National Nature Reserve. This is one of Wales’ most outstanding botanical sites with a variety of plant life and over 250 species
Stay at a campsite of your choice. You might want to header towards Cwmdu Campsite for the perfect nights rest.
The Cwmdu campsite is the perfect campsite for relaxation in the Brecon Beacons area. This 4-star campsite has everything you need and more. Facilities include an on-site shop, free Wi-Fi, electric hook-up pitches, baby changing facilities and more.
Crickhowell is a town and community in southeastern Powys. Crickhowell is a great base for exploring the surrounding hills and mountains. From here you can access the Brecon and Monmouth canal, the Llangattock escarpment, the river Usk and Glanusk estate.
Close by to Crickhowell you can also walk up Sugar Loaf, Allt yr Esgair or Tor y Foel.
Activites & Things To Do
Over the next two days spend time in the magnificent Black Mountains Area. The area is a group of hills extending around 80 miles. The Black Mountains lie between the towns of Abergavenny, Crickhowell, Talgarth and Hay-on-Wye.
The Black Mountains Area deserves all the time you can give it. This mystical place is full of majesty. Take some time to explore medieval villages and spend your day hiking through the glorious mountain ranges.
Must-see destinations in the Black Mountains Area include Llangattock Cliffs. Llangattock escarpment includes limestone cliffs situated below a grassy wind-swept lake. Llangattock is in a secluded location. You can access the parking area through a narrow road near Mynydd Llangatwg.
Another must-see destination is Buckland Hill a mountain summit at 316 metres high.
You might also want to hike to the mountain peak of Waun Fach.
Head back to Cwmdu Campsite for the night two nights.

The dramatic mountain range reaches across England and Wales. The Black Mountains are an ideal destination for outdoor lovers. The climbs can often be challenging so we recommend a good level of physical activity to climb the mountain safely. At the mountain summit, you will find some truly stunning views that make the climb worth it.
Why not try some kayaking and canoeing across in Black Mountains area.
Activites & Things To Do
Drive towards Abergavenny, a small market town, famous for its annual food festival.
Head towards Abergavenny Castle ruins and explore the historic site.
If you are visiting on Tuesday, Friday, or Saturday, then make sure to visit the town’s bustling market. Here you can find a diverse market offering local produce, crafts, and antiques, and it is a great place to pick up souvenirs and gifts for your family and friends back home.
After this, head to nearby White Castle, also known as Castell Gwyn in Welsh, which is located near the village of Llantilio Crossenny. Take a walk around the castle’s ruins, which include curtain walls, and a moat.
Stay at a campsite of your choice. You might want to stay at Blossom Touring Caravan Park and enjoy a peaceful night’s rest.
Blossom Touring Caravan Park is set in a south-facing pear and plum orchard, making it one of the most beautiful camping sites with stunning views. In the summer, enjoy the sunshine rays all day long as you relax at the campsite.
Electricity is supplied to every pitch, water standpipes are located close by. The facilities include a shower and toilet block, laundry facilities, and more.
The Big Pit National Coal Museum is an award-winning museum. The former coal mine was in operation from the mid-19th century until 1980. At the museum, you might want to enjoy a tour by former miners who can tell you what life was like working in the mines.
The Talybont reservoir was built in the 1930s to provide water for the nearby towns and villages.
A short drive outside of Abergavenny, you will find the ruins of Llanthony Priory which was built in the 13th century. You can also visit St Martin’s Church also built in the 13th century.
If you’re feeling adventurous why not head to the Dirt Farm biking trail at Abergavenny.
Activities & Things To Do
Begin your drive back to the Bunk Campers London depot, stopping and exploring as you desire.
You might want to make a stop along the way and stay the night at the Bridge Caravan Park.
Alternatively, you can continue the drive back to the Bunk Campers London depot.
The journey back to London includes gorgeous mountain ranges, wildlife, green scenery.
Bridge Caravan Park is the perfect setting to park up and relax, enjoying quiet surroundings. Facilites include washing machine, iron, tumble dryer and more.
Make sure you take all your personal belongings with you at the end of your holiday. Please ensure that you return your Bunk Camper with the same level of fuel as when you collected it. Don’t forget to empty the waste tank before the campervan is returned. If you purchase our ‘Drop and Go’ hassle-free return option, then you will not be expected to empty the waste water tank.
