2022 Recap: Our year in review
The final days of 2022 are upon us, and what a year it has been. In 2022, not only did we celebrate the 15th year anniversary of Bunk Campers, but we also welcomed thousands of guests from countries all across the globe. As if that wasn’t enough to celebrate, our website received a new look and we were delighted to see one of our motorhomes take centre stage on a Channel 4 program. Read our blog to learn more about our 2022 year in review.
We welcomed back the world
As travel restrictions lifted and international borders opened, we saw an influx of new and returning guests book a campervan or motorhome holiday. In the early months of 2022, our depots across Belfast, Dublin, Edinburgh, and London began to fill with beaming faces ready for an adventure. And that didn’t slow down as the year went on.
After months spent cooped up inside our homes, campervan holidays were the perfect opportunity for our guests to step back out and explore the world safely. And as a result, we saw our guests welcome back nature, road trip adventures and create new memories from their own home on wheels.
We celebrated 15 years!
The Bunk Campers team hit another milestone in 2022 as we celebrated our 15th year anniversary. We’ve come a long way from our humble beginnings in 2007, with just 5 vans. Now, we are one of the largest campervan and motorhome rental companies in the UK & Ireland.
So where did it all start? Well, with a campervan road trip of course. Our founders took a campervan road trip around Australia and New Zealand and after falling in love with campervans, they brought the magic of campervan and motorhome hire to the UK and Ireland and created Bunk Campers.
To celebrate 15 years, we launched a range of activities and promotions for our guests. One that gained momentum, was the ‘Name a Bunk Camper’ activity. You submitted some hilarious and creative Bunk Campers vehicle names. And, it was our privilege to give 15 winners £150 off their next rental.
Our motorhomes hit the big screen
In 2022, we also welcomed back actors Miriam Margolyes and Alan Cumming as they returned to film the Channel 4 program Lost in Scotland and Beyond in their very own Bunk Camper. Following the success of Season 1, the two British legends set off for the next leg of their Scottish road trip. You can watch Lost in Scotland and Beyond on Channel 4 here.
In the programme, the actors explore their Scottish roots as they travel across Scotland. You’ll see breathtaking scenery and stunning landscapes which might just give you the nudge needed to take that well-deserved road trip across Scotland. Discover the magic of Scotland and plan your very own Scottish road trip adventure.
You explored new driving routes
2022 was the year of getting off the beaten track. In 2022, our guests got lost in England’s heavenly North East and the South West 600. In Scotland and Ireland, guests took the road less travelled and explored lesser-known driving routes.
We also revealed unmissable Northern Ireland and Scotland destinations and found the best places to surf in the UK and Ireland. And let’s not forget how we survived the airport chaos during the Summer months with our handy travel tips.
But, most importantly it was a year when we made unforgettable memories with the people we love the most. And took some time out of our everyday life to show appreciation for the world we live in. Just take a look at our Instagram to see these memories for yourself.
Our website got a refresh!
And in 2022, we gave our website a new look. The redesign of our website makes it easier to find all the latest rental information and inspiration you need for your road trip. It’s easier than ever to learn about who we are, what we offer, and the destinations you can explore. Enrich yourself and learn about different cultures, road trips, and campsites. And amongst other things, you can easily check out our latest offers, camping advice, and rental information to help you book and travel with confidence.
